Life’s a beach with UltraTile

UltraTile have partnered with Decaux Bespoke Finishing to transform the exterior of a beach house in Camber Sands from drab and dreary to spectacular.

Background

Known for its beautiful golden beaches, Camber Sands is a much sought-after holiday location. A beach house has undergone a huge renovation including replacing old and rotten decking with a magnificent new patio.

The Challenge

For a successful outcome, it was important that the finished patio lived up to the homeowner’s design expectations but was also durable enough that they will be able to enjoy their new garden for many years to come.

The Solution

To create a superb and long-lasting patio, Decaux Bespoke Finishing utilised UltraTile’s external tiling system.

To begin, UltraTile ProPave Mortar was used to build a strong and perfect bound base for the tiling. With the bedding mortar firmly in place, each tile was primed with UltraTile ProPave Primer – an important process as the primer provides an exceptional bond between all types of stone and ProPave Mortar.

Inevitably, on a project of this nature and size, and with multiple trades on site at the same time, the patio needed a good clean prior to grouting. To give the tiles the care they needed, Decaux Bespoke Finishing used ProClean Resin-Off and ProClean Grout Haze Remover to eliminate any cement-based stains, before giving the patio a general wash using ProClean Xtreme Clean.

For the final flourish, the tiles were grouted using ProPave Grout – a high specification, decorative, brush-in jointing solution. Suitable for use with granite, porcelain and other premium quality natural stone, ProPave Grout utilises ColourShield technology for a vibrant finish, can be used in all weathers and can be walked on in just 24 – 48 hours.

What’s more, ProPave Grout is available in 4 magnificent colours – Cosmic Black, Natural Cashmere, Storm Grey and Pebble Grey – the latter of which was used for this project.

To finish the project, ProFlex SPES standard set adhesive in white, was used to fix the skirting tiles.

Results

Thanks to the expertise of Decaux Bespoke Finishing and the superior performance of UltraTile, the homeowners of this beautiful property are now enjoying a stunning new garden patio.
