UltraCrete M60 bedding mortar is proven to outperform competitors at cold temperatures

Recent independent UKAS accredited testing has proven that UltraCrete rapid strength bedding mortar, M60, can outperform its key competitor at temperatures as low as 5°C.

Launched over 30 years ago, UltraCrete M60 is the market leading bedding mortar. Recent independent UKAS testing demonstrated that it still consistently delivers, reporting that the rapid strength bedding mortar has been proven to be 83% stronger than other similar products at 5°C, making it the ‘go to’ rapid bedding mortar for the winter months. Additionally M60 also achieves an impressive 20N/mm² in just 45mins at 20°C.

UltraCrete M60 is dimensionally stable in wet weather and low temperatures, with no cracking or surface crazing. It can be used for all access covers, as well as for the bonding of granite setts, flags and bedding kerbs. HAPAS (Highways Authority Product Approval Scheme) approved since 2005, M60 also conforms to the required standard of HD27/15 (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges) compressive strengths, has a rapid strength development and can be safely opened to traffic in 1 hour.

Chris Murphy, Instarmac Technical Director said: “Other equivalent products in the market place were also tested alongside M60, but our UltraCrete mortar product significantly outperformed them in terms of strength gain at lower temperatures. The stats speak for themselves, and this was just one of the reasons why our easy to use bedding mortar has already been approved for use on the London Underground and Overground. It’s the perfect bedding mortar product to minimise risk and maximise performance whilst continually providing confidence during the winter months and beyond.”
