The old, tired, and unsafe corridors at Marshall Park Academy School have undergone a complete transformation thanks to the expertise of 14 Flooring and the speed of UltraFloor materials.
Background
The existing floor in the first-floor corridors at Marshall Park Academy School were looking tired and had failed in a number of areas. With pupils and staff moving between classrooms at regular intervals, it was time for the corridors to be modernised and made safe once more.
The Challenge
Time was of the essence at this project. The team at 14 Flooring had just five days to uplift two layers of safety vinyl flooring, remove any existing adhesive, prime, level and install the new flooring, across a 200sqm area.
The Solution
UltraFloor have a reputation for providing the flooring market with quality and innovative subfloor preparation materials. After removing the existing floor covering, commercial flooring specialists, 14 Flooring, first primed the entire 200sqm with UltraFloor Prime IT Multi-surface Primer.
Formulated to promote the adhesion to all UltraFloor smoothing underlayments, Prime IT Multi-surface Primer reduces pinholing, minimising the risk of costly failures. With a coverage rate of 200sqm at 3:1 dilution, Prime IT Multi-surface Primer is a must-have product for all flooring installation projects.
Once cured, Level IT Two was applied to create a super smooth subfloor in preparation for the installation of Gerflor Tarasafe Standard flooring in Dove Grey.
There are many reasons why Level IT Two has become UltraFloor’s most popular floor leveller. Its exceptional flow characteristics make it a very easy material to apply to a variety of subfloors in both commercial and domestic flooring projects. Its low odour formulation means this fantastic all-rounder leveller is equally suited to confined areas, proving particularly popular in the education, health and hospitality sectors.
With a set time of 2.5 hours, Level IT Two can receive bonded floor coverings after just 8 hours, making it an ideal choice for projects with a tight deadline. What’s more, because Level IT Two is available as a two component system, it takes the guesswork out of mixing, reducing site errors and guaranteeing a perfect application every time.
Results
On using UltraFloor, Daniel Lunan, Director at 14 Flooring, commented: “Level IT Two was used for two reasons – performance and price. When needing many units for larger areas, costs can rise considerably, especially when uplifting the existing floor and not knowing what will be uncovered. The cost-effective price of Level IT Two, its ability to be used over most common substrates and its smooth flat finish made it the smoothing underlayment of choice for this project and will be used again for the upcoming work in the school.”
