UltraScape introduces eco-bed – the new environmentally friendly bedding mortar

UltraScape, part of the award-winning Instarmac Group plc, are delighted to announce the launch of their new environmentally friendly bedding mortar – eco-bed.

Part of UltraScape’s world renowned Mortar Paving System, eco-bed is a fine bedding mortar manufactured to meet and exceed the strict requirements of British Standard 7533. UltraScape eco-bed offers offers all the benefits you would expect from a BS 7533 compliant bedding mortar, including an impressive compressive strength or 45N/mm², but contains 20% recycled material.

The addition of recycled material means that for every 1,000m² of paving bedded with eco-bed and jointed using flowpoint eco, an environmentally friendly rapid set flowable grout, 12 tonnes of recycled material will be used (based on 30mm bed depth, 10mm joint depth and a stone size of 600 x 400 x 50mm). This significantly reduces the use of virgin aggregates, helping lessen the pressure on the country’s plummeting natural resources and also helps towards achieving an Excellent CEEQUAL Award or Outstanding BREEAM certification.

Pre-blended for ease of use, eco-bed can be laid from 10 – 100mm, is shrinkage compensated and can be opened to foot traffic in 12 hours, allowing contractors to move on to the next part of their project quickly.

What’s more, UltraScape eco-bed, alongside flowpoint rapid setting grout, flowpoint eco environmentally friendly rapid setting grout and pavejoint plus jointing sand, is now available in brand new, stylish packaging.

UltraScape are committed to reducing their environmental impact, and so, from December 2018, eco-bed fine bedding mortar will replace UltraScape Pro-Bed HS and Pro-Bed HS ECO in 25kg bags. Pro-Bed HS will still be available to purchase in 1 tonne bags and 28 tonne silos.

For further information on eco-bed and  the other materials in UltraScape’s BS 7533 Mortar Paving System please contact their experienced sales team by email or by calling 01827 254402.

Tough Patch flows easily, doesn’t go hard in the bags and is not weather dependent. It appears to compact better and cures harder.
