UltraTile creates tropical paradise at Center Parcs

The Great Northern Tiling Company have used UltraTile to create a subtropical swimming paradise at iconic family resort, Center Parcs.

Background

Located in the heart of Nottingham’s famous Sherwood Forest, Center Parcs is a much-loved family resort home to variety of activities and villages, including the recently renovated Subtropical Swimming Paradise Village.

The Challenge

The project began mid-2020 during the UK’s first lockdown. To make the most of the facilities being empty, the project continued to grow in size as the team at Center Parcs rejuvenated further areas across the family resort.

“Working in constant 30°C+ temperatures during summer 2020 was challenging for both our tilers and the adhesive. Fitting Quartzite stone to the seating areas, Jacuzzi and stairs was technically demanding”. Darren Nockall, Director at The Great Northern Tiling Company.

The Solution

“Due to the tropical temperature of the swimming pool areas, we needed a high performance adhesive that would not set too quickly. ProGrip FX fitted the bill perfectly.” Mark Howden, Director at The Great Northern Tiling Company.

With that in mind, the team at The Great Northern Tiling Company chose to prepare the substrate with ProLevel One and used ProGrip FX adhesive to install 20mm Quartzite Riven stone, in a random, non-uniform pattern, to the swimming pool seating areas, Jacuzzi and stairs – an area of approximately 500sqm.

Prior to shaping and fitting the non-uniform Quartzite stone, all existing tiles and adhesive had to removed and the sand and cement screed prepared using ProLevel One.

Formulated for depths up to 60mm in one application, ProLevel One deep fill floor leveller incorporates a blend of specially graded fillers, cements and polymers to offer a rapid curing profile for early fixing of tiles, even at thicker depth applications.

ProGrip FX is a fibre reinforced semi-rapid tile adhesive, specially formulated with enhanced adhesion and flexibility, making it ideal for areas where slight movement or vibration can occur.

Ideal for use with porcelain, mosaic and natural stone tiles, ProGrip FX boasts exceptional grab and enhanced body for large format tiles and has an extended pot life for greater fixing time.
