Primarily used for footways, footpaths and cycle paths, Instant Road Repair is a cold-lay repair macadam that’s suitable for a wide range of different applications, covering both planned and reactive repairs. Instant Road Repair is suitable for use as a permanent cold-lay surfacing material (PCSM), in accordance with Appendix A2.4 of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991: Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways (SROH).

Instant Road Repair cold-lay asphalt offers a number of advantages over hot asphalt or other forms of cold asphalt. There’s no need for specialist equipment or heating equipment, removing the temperature window for application. This makes our cold-lay asphalt more cost-effective and simpler to apply than hot asphalts. Thanks to the easy-work formula, Instant Road Repair is simple to apply and can be laid in any weather conditions without compromising the performance of the application.

Applying Instant Road Repair cold-lay asphalt for pothole repairs is quick, easy and can be done in four steps.

  1. Ensure the area is clean of debris.
  2. Seal the pothole edges and substrate using UltraCrete SCJ Seal and Tack Coat Spray.
  3. Fill in the hole using Instant Road Repair.
  4. Tamp down for a consistent finish.

Instant road repairs can also be used for first-time permanent repairs, while cold-lay asphalt reinstatements of up to 60mm in depth can be achieved using the layer-on-layer method.

  1. Saw-cut a “picture frame” around the repair or reinstatement area.
  2. Clear any debris from the area.
  3. Seal vertical edges and substrate with UltraCrete SCJ.
  4. Apply the product to a depth of approx. 45mm and compact to 30mm to achieve your first layer.
  5. Re-apply SCJ to vertical edges before applying a second layer of Instant Road Repair.
  6. Repeat step 4 to achieve a depth of 60mm.

Note: All compaction should be carried out in accordance with Appendix 8 of the SROH 2020. If overbanding is required, apply UltraCrete Instaband ECO overbanding tape.

As a cold-lay repair macadam, Instant Road Repair should be stored in a cool and well-ventilated place for best performance.

We manufacture and distribute Instant Road Repair in the shortest time possible to ensure you always receive fresh, easy-to-lay product for your project.

If your bags have been sent on a pallet, those at the bottom of the pallet may appear firm immediately after transport. Apply light pressure to the edge of the bag to restore your material’s original consistency.

Our cold-lay asphalt boasts a shelf life of six months when stored in the correct conditions, whether supplied in a bag or bucket.

Always ensure that appropriate PPE is used when preparing, mixing or applying Instant Road Repair cold-lay asphalt. Always wash your hands before consuming food, and keep materials safely out of reach of children and animals.

Please dispose of packaging and waste responsibly and in accordance with local authority requirements. Please refer to the full safety datasheet for any further information required.

Large County Council

For the last 18 months we have fully adopted a HAPAS approved reinstatement system for ironwork and we have had no failures at all. As a result of this, we have also now upgraded the County’s Code of Practice for Ironwork so that the use of HAPAS & CD534 materials are specified.
